Requesting Certification

All students using military-connected benefits must submit a certification request each semester. If you have recently registered for courses, you may need to wait a day for the Student Records eForms option to appear.

  1. Sign into MyGCC
  2. Click on the Student Information System (SIS) tile
  3. In the Resources tile, click the Student Records eForms tile
  4. On the left, click on Military Benefit Certify eForm tab
  5. Fill out all required sections carefully:
    1. Academic Institution: Germanna Community College
    2. Military Status: Select your current status
    3. Term: Choose the correct semester
    4. Degree Plan: Select your degree plan from the list
  6. Choose all benefits you intend to use for the selected semester. More than one may be selected. Only select benefits you are qualified for.
  7. Select a Certification Type
    1. New Certification Request: For your first submission each semester
    2. Adjustment Certification Request: Use this if you've added/dropped/changed classes since submitting the original request.
  8. After selecting a certification type, review your enrolled courses that will be populated in a list based on the selected semester. If there are any classes you do not wish to certify, clearly note them in the box provided below the class list.
  9. Before submitting your request, upload any required documents at the bottom of the eForm:
    1. Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
    2. Parent School/Guest Letter (if attending more than one college)
    3. Any other applicable documents
  10. Submit your certification request

Tip: Have your chapter information and military beneficiary details ready.

VA Benefits Users: If this is your first time using VA benefits or a new benefit, submit a current Certificate of Eligibility (COE) with your request by email or in person.

VMSDEP Users: You must register with the VMSDEP portal and submit a separate enrollment verification through their system each semester, in addition to completing this SIS certification request.
