  • Must be a rising junior at a participating high school
  • Must be pursuing an Advanced Studies Diploma
  • Must have completed Algebra II or higher by the end of their sophomore year
  • Must be on track to have earned three verified credits by the end of sophomore year
  • Must be in good academic standing, which is defined as a “B” average or better with a minimum cumulative unweighted 3.0 GPA
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing at their home high school

Early College offers an academically rigorous and rewarding challenge for exceptional, college-ready high school students. Participants work toward their high school diploma and transferable associate degree from Germanna at the same time.

Early College programs include Germanna Scholars, serving Culpeper County high schools and the Gladys P. Todd Academy, serving Fredericksburg City and Spotsylvania County high schools. Both programs were created with the goal of increasing access to higher education, especially those who would be the first in their families to go to college.

College-level learning

Structured curriculum taught by college-level instructors

Support services

Program advisors proactively monitor academic progress to help develop plans to address a student's unique needs

Earn a college degree

Ability to complete high school diploma and transferable associate degree at the same time

Save time and money

Earn 60 transferable college credits at 1/3 the cost of most VA four-year schools

Student life

Participate in college visits, field trips, mentoring, and be a part of Germanna life
