About Navigate

Navigate Student is a mobile advisor that helps students get the most out of their college journey. Through the app, students can choose the right major, navigate requirements ranging from financial aid to course registration and stay on top of important dates and deadlines—and all from their phones!

Navigate makes it easier to stay on top of important tasks and decision making. It is the ultimate guide to build a path to graduation and stay on that path.

Navigate Student can be found by logging on to myGCC and clicking on the Navigate Student tile. Please note that Google Chrome is the recommended browser for Navigate Student and Navigate Student is not supported by Internet Explorer.

Student Resources

Appointment Center

In the Appointment Center, you will be able to view upcoming appointments, request appointments with advisors and staff on campus.

Study Buddies

In the Study Buddies section of the app, you can opt in to reach out to other students who would like to study with you for any course that you are taking. By opting in, other students in your class will be able to see your email address and reach out to you via email.

Resources

In the Resource section of the app, you can view a list of key people, places on campus, as well as campus offices. You can find direct links to many departments.

To Do’s

In the To Do’s section of the app, you can view upcoming tasks and important dates. You can also create your own reminders in this section.

Class Schedule

In the Class Schedule section, you can view the classes that you are currently registered for, in a list or in a schedule view.

My Major

In the My Major section you can answer a couple of questions to see what majors would interest you as well as the possible salary range and hiring demand.

Settings

In Settings, you can view your student ID and email. The EAB Navigate team suggests that you turn on app notifications.

Alerts

Alerts are a way for your instructors to let you know about your status in their course and direct you to resources you may need on campus.

Appointment Scheduling

Navigate allows you to schedule appointments with Student Services, Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, etc.

Early Alerts

At any given college, some students struggle academically in their courses. They may have frequent absences, miss assignments, and/or perform poorly on assignments. Just as importantly, some students may not know who they should contact for assistance. As such, our Early Alert program provides students with critical support and essential guidance to counter factors that could inhibit their success.

Guided Pathway

The recommended sequence of courses to take to complete your program of study.

Major Explorer

Helps match your skills and interest to the best fit in programs of study at GCC and related careers.

Messaging

GCC instructors and staff can send you messages via email and text about events and deadlines at Germanna.

Payment/Tuition

There are a variety of options and methods to pay your tuition each semester including financial aid, scholarships, loans, payment plan, online and in-person.

Registration

Enrolling in courses needed for your program of study and/or the four-year college in which you intend to transfer.

Resources

A directory of resources that are important to your success as a student.

Help, I can’t log in to Navigate!

Can you get to the student portal? If you can and your credentials are rejected, there is an issue with your username or password.

What should I do if my app freezes or acts weird?

Try a hard close and relaunch the app. For iOS, double-click the Home button and then swipe the app preview away to “hard close.” On Android, open the app manager view and slide the app preview away to “hard close.”

How do I change my notification settings?

In the “Settings” tab, there’s a link called “Notification Settings” that lets you personalize your notification preferences.

Something is wrong with my “class schedule.”

Course schedules are updated every 24 hours in Navigate, so check back tomorrow if you added or dropped a course and noticed it is not appearing correctly.

My major isn’t appearing.

Be sure your major has been declared on your official record.

Only one of my majors is appearing, not my second major or minor.

Navigate only displays one major, so if you’re double-majoring or have a minor, your second major and/or minor will not appear in Navigate. Don’t panic!

How much do I have to pay?

Zero, nada, zilch. It costs nothing for you to download Navigate or use the desktop version.
