To prepare competent entry-level Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.

Program details

EMT prerequisites/corequisites

  • HLT 105 or Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider CPR Card 

First day of class prerequisites

  • Provide the following through the current contracted vendor:
    • Criminal Background Check
    • Drug Screening
    • Health Portal to include: 
      Provide Physical Exam documentation (on the school provided form only) must be within the last 12 months
      Documentation of Vaccines (Varicella, MMR, Tetanus etc.) (Report from official vaccine records) or Titers (must be reported on Lab Reports). 
      Current TB Test (within the last 12 months and repeated annually while in the program). 
  • Purchase subscription/access (Clinical/Field experiences tracking & scheduling software)
  • Purchase textbook/e-textbook with MyBrady Lab access
  • Purchase stethoscope
  • Purchase uniform
  • Obtain a Germanna Student Photo ID
  • Provide a AHA Healthcare provider CPR card

The Germanna Community College EMS Education Program has been issued a Letter of Review by the Virginia Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services upon the recommendation of the Division of Accreditation, Certification and Education.
