What is Germanna+Mason ADVANCE?

  • Germanna+Mason ADVANCE is a unique partnership between Germanna and George Mason University.
  • As an ADVANCE participant, you’ll be both a Germanna and GMU student from day one, enjoying access to specialized advising support, tuition assistance, and the full GMU student experience.

Why Choose Germanna+Mason ADVANCE?

Cost Savings: Complete your associate degree at Germanna before transferring to Mason, and you’ll save thousands. Plus, eligible students may receive additional aid from Mason’s Virginia Promise Grant to further cover program costs.

Access to GMU Facilities: Embrace the campus cultures of both Germanna and Mason. As an ADVANCE student, you’ll have access to recreational facilities, sporting events, and on-campus experiences at both schools.

Streamlined Application Process: Transition seamlessly to Mason’s bachelor’s degree program with a free, abbreviated application.

Students interested in transferring to GMU and majoring in Psychology, Business, Cybersecurity, Health Administration, Elementary Education, or Criminology, Law & Society are eligible.

Requirements:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 upon application to GMU and upon Germanna graduation.
  • Completion of an Associate of Arts and Science Degree (AA&S) at Germanna.
  • At least 30 transferrable credit hours at Germanna applicable to the AA&S degree program.
  • Completion of specific courses (e.g., ENG 111, ENG 112, and math courses) with grades of A, B, or C.
  • Easy online application for GMU admission by the required deadline.

Get Started Today. Apply online for GMU admission by the GAA deadline: March 1 for fall admission or October 1 for spring admission.

  • Submit the GAA Letter of Intent included in the transfer application.
  • Graduate from Germanna by the published college deadline (May for fall admission, August or December for spring admission).
