Hello, Germanna Community,

As we begin the new year, I am honored to join Germanna Community College as its seventh president. It is a privilege to lead an institution that plays such a vital role in transforming lives, strengthening our regional workforce, and serving our communities.

Community colleges are extraordinary places, defined by access, opportunity, and a deep commitment to student success. At Germanna, that commitment is made possible through strong partnerships with local businesses, organizations, donors, alumni, families, and civic leaders like you. Your engagement and support help ensure our students are prepared to succeed in today’s workforce and beyond.

Germanna’s impact has also been recognized nationally. The college has been designated an Opportunity College by the Carnegie Classification, reflecting strong outcomes in access and student success, and has been named by the Aspen Institute as one of the Top 200 community colleges in the country eligible for the Aspen Prize. These distinctions affirm the strength of our mission and the importance of the partnerships that help make it possible.

As we move forward, my priorities are clear and intentional:

• Advancing student access, success, and completion
• Fostering a welcoming and inclusive college culture
• Strengthening partnerships with business, industry, and community organizations
• Ensuring a sustainable future for the college

In the weeks ahead, I look forward to listening and learning and to connecting with you and other community partners to better understand regional needs and identify new opportunities for growth and collaboration. Together, we can continue expanding educational pathways that support economic mobility and enhance quality of life across our service region.

Dr. Tashika Griffith

President, Germanna Community College
 

Prior to being appointed as Germanna’s seventh permanent president, Dr. Griffith served as Provost and Chief Campus Officer, Clearwater Campus at St. Petersburg State College, St. Petersburg, Florida, a position she held since February 2022.

She has been affiliated with St. Petersburg College since 2016 and served as Interim Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Provost and Provost of the college’s Downtown and Midtown Centers. Dr. Griffith previously served as Associate Dean of Students at University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Miami, FL, Director of the office of Multicultural Affairs at University of Scranton, PA, and in the Career and Multicultural Center at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. In addition to 16 years in adjunct teaching positions at a number of colleges and universities, Dr. Griffith also taught public high school and served in the university police department at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL. She currently serves as an adjunct faculty member for the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership.

Dr. Griffith earned a Professional Certificate at Harvard University, a B.A. at Florida Atlantic University, a Master’s degree at Virginia Tech, and her Ed.D. at Northeastern University, Boston, MA.
