Mr. Wendell Anderson, Educational Foundation Board Member
The mission of the Germanna Educational Foundation is to promote the growth, progress, and well-being of Germanna and its students. It is truly a rewarding experience to serve on the Foundation Board and see first-hand how the mission is continuously accomplished. Having the opportunity to witness the Foundation’s efforts in raising, investing, and administering private funds for Germanna’s students is truly phenomenal.
I became inspired to support the Foundation after having conversations with the Foundation staff and other board members and hearing the passion and dedication behind what they do. I certainly wanted to align myself with the Board to help students as much I can and be a part of something greater than myself.
The Gladys P. Todd Academy, named after a longtime Fredericksburg teacher and civil rights activist, makes such an impact. I had the privilege of participating in early program planning meetings with Doris Buffet, who was the impetus for this program. Gladys P. Todd Academy helps first-generation high school students realize their full potentials and allows them to earn high school diplomas and college degrees simultaneously. The importance of this program cannot be overstated.
