What is FANTIC?

FANTIC stands for Financial Assistance for Noncredit Training for Industry Credentials and provides funding to learners who can demonstrate financial need and want to enroll in an approved training program leading to an industry-recognized credential or licensure.

How to apply

  1. Go to Germanna Courses & Registration page and create a student profile (new students only).
  2. After you have made your student profile, and show as domiciled in Virginia, click here to access the Workforce Financial Aid Application. 
  3. Complete the application and gather all required documents. Email FAWorkforce@germanna.edu to receive the secure link to upload your documents.
  4. Once your application is approved, you will be contacted by a Workforce Advisor to complete your registration.

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Intermediate Work Zone
  • Welding Level 1 & 2 - NCCER

FANTIC Eligibility

  • You are a US citizen
  • You have been a resident of Virginia for the past 12 months
  • You are over the age of 18 and compliant with Federal Selective Service
  • Your income meets Federal Poverty Levels (see below)
  • You are not receiving other forms of federal and state assistance
  • You complete a FANTIC application
  • You complete a FANTIC approved program, pass the credential exam, and provide a copy of the credential to Germanna

Applicants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The FANTIC program will pay up to 100% of the learner’s cost. Qualified individuals will be responsible for any remaining tuition amount at the time of registration.

Income guidelines

Based on (1) the Family Size of your household (Exemptions), and (2) Adjusted Gross Income on your IRS Tax Return Transcript, we will use the following table to determine your financial eligibility. An applicant’s income must not exceed the below maximum income allowed as determined by the HUD Guidelines for Virginia. (HUD Guidelines are subject to periodic change.)
