The Testing Center provides testing services only to students who plan to apply to a Health Sciences program at Germanna. Students applying elsewhere must contact the relevant institution for testing accommodations. 

HESI A2 Testing

As of March 16, 2024, the TEAS replaced the HESI A2 preadmission test.  HESI A2 scores (containing the 6 subjects listed below) will be accepted until March 15, 2027.  If you have taken the HESI A2 at another institution, please ensure that it contains Germanna's six required subjects. The institution should submit an official transcript to transcripts@germanna.edu and LGCTesting@germanna.edu.

The HESI LPN-RM exam is the mid-curricular exam for LPN-RN applicants. It is different from the commercial HESI tests and is tailored to the GCC LPN-RN Program.

February 5, March 4, April 8, June 3, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 7, November 4

  • 8 a.m or 1 p.m. via Zoom
  • 9 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. in the FAC Testing Center, LGC Testing Center or Stafford Testing Center

Test candidates must pay for each attempt.  

Requesting an Appointment

Appointments must be scheduled in advance and are proctored and scheduled by the Testing Center only. Do not request appointments via the HESI website.

TEAS Testing

As of March 16, 2024, the TEAS is the preadmission test for GCC's nursing, dental and physical therapist assistant programs.  The TEAS is a four-part assessment with subsections in reading, mathematics, science, and English & Language usage.  The testing centers and Proctorio provide in-person and remote test proctoring services to students planning to apply to a Health Technology program (PN, LPN-RN, RN, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, and Physical Therapist Assistant) at Germanna.

  • Two attempts are allowed.  Students must wait 14 days between attempts for remediation/studying and complete all subjects on the TEAS.  
  • Testing dates for prospective nursing students: June 1 - October 15, 2024.  Testing dates change during each nursing application cycle. 
  • Prospective dental and physical therapist assistant students should follow the scheduled testing days below.  
  • TEAS is not offered during Finals week of any semester.
  • If you took the TEAS test at another institution and sent your transcript to Germanna, please email LGCTesting@germanna.edu and provide us with your first and last name and student ID number.  TEAS scores obtained must be within 3 years of applying.  

The TEAS test is available in-person:

  • Fredericksburg & Locust Grove Testing Centers from Monday to Thursday at 9 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.
  • Stafford Testing Center on Mondays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. (Seating is limited.)

The TEAS test is available for remote proctoring via Proctorio:

  • Remote proctoring from Monday to Thursday at 9 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. (A 30-minute Dry-Run session via Zoom is required at least 2-3 days before the test day.)

  • Germanna / VCCS EmplID student number
  • Primary phone number
  • Type of laptop used for remote proctoring: MacBook or Windows (cannot use a Chromebook or an iPad)

Scheduling Guidelines

We cannot accommodate same-day testing requests. Please allow five to seven business days to receive confirmation of your appointment time.

  • Students requiring a test accommodation (extended time, etc.) must contact the Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR) and Mr. Win Stevens before scheduling an appointment.  Your appointment will not be confirmed until Testing Services receives your accommodate from OAR.  
  • If you have not received an email from Testing Services confirming your appointment, you will not be allowed to test.
  • If you are unable to arrive at your appointment time, please call (540) 423-9147 (Locust Grove Campus). Leave a voicemail if prompted.
  • If you are running late, please alert the Testing Center as soon as possible to ensure that we can still accommodate you.

Testing Process

  • Allow 3.5 hours to test.  Each section is timed.
  • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID, your student ID# and your ATI/TEAS username and password.

MOOC NAS2 Testing

The prerequisite for BIO 141 is completion of the NAS 2 exam with a score of 70% or better, or completion of BIO 101 (or equivalent) with a grade of C or better.

Students who enroll in the free MOOC NAS 2 course gain access to the NAS 2 exam, which is password protected and must be completed in the GCC testing center. The exam can be taken any time the testing center is open, but you must arrive at least 90 minutes prior to closing. Appointments are not required. 

The exam may be taken three times, and students must wait three days before retaking the exam. Students should use the three-day waiting period to review the study material in Canvas. If you earn less than 70% on the third attempt, contact Dr. Thomson at sthomson@germanna.edu for details about earning an additional attempt.

Zoom/Proctorio Requirements

  • Students must attend a one-time, 30-minute proctor-assisted exam setup session or dry run via Zoom.
  • Your laptop must meet the technical requirements specified by the test vendor.
  • You must have a reliable internet connection and the Zoom meeting app installed on your cell phone or tablet.

Other Notes

  • TEAS, HESI and PSB pre-admission and ATI tests are not offered during the “Finals Week” of any semester.
  • Testing is limited at the Stafford Testing Center.
