1.0 Purpose
The purpose of the Faculty Handbook is to make teaching faculty aware of important policies and procedures of the College, to highlight various sources of support available to enhance teaching, research, and service, and to present a general overview of the College.
2.0 Policy
2.1 The Faculty Handbook will be reviewed annually by a standing committee.
2.2 The Faculty Handbook will be updated annually by designated staff and supervisors responsible for specific content within the handbook.
2.3 Updates with significant content change, not already approved, must go through the College’s governance process.
2.4 The Office of Human Resources is responsible for maintaining the most current Faculty Handbook posted on the Germanna website under “For Faculty.”
3.0 Procedures
3.1 A standing committee will be formed and led by the Associate Vice President of Human Resources. The committee will include:
a. The Associate Vice President of Human Resources;
b. The Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences;
c. At least one faculty member from each instructional division;
d. Two faculty members selected by the Faculty Senate; and
e. May include other members as necessary.
3.2 Faculty representatives will serve a two (2) year term and may be extended to stagger membership for continuity.
3.3 The standing committee will meet in no later than February 1 annually to review the Faculty Handbook and make any recommendations.
3.4 The Faculty Handbook will be sent out by March 1 annually to each of the appropriate staff and supervisors with updates due by May 1 annually.
3.5 The deadline for the final updated and uploaded Faculty Handbook is August 1 annually.

4.0 Definitions
Standing Committee - A group that continue from year-to-year in service within the
College to address a recurring need of reviewing and ensuring the annual updating
the Faculty Handbook.
