Mr. Ed Dalrymple, Jr., Educational Foundation Board Member
Serving on the Educational Foundation Board has given me a way to be involved with Germanna and understand the needs of the College's programs. I'm also able to help identify workforce training opportunities for students. Training can enhance career opportunities and work in collaboration with business.
The Educational Foundation allows me to make a positive difference for students, giving them the chance to improve their lives and support themselves and their family. This can be by providing financial resources directly to the student, developing campus sites to meet future needs, or building programs to support business needs in Virginia.
The development of the VECAT asphalt program led to the establishment of the Virginia Infrastructure Academy, which are significant initiatives with a substantial impact. Workforce development programs, such as the VECAT asphalt program, can have a transformative effect on individuals and communities. By providing industry-specific training and credentials, these programs equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue in-demand careers, thereby improving their employment prospects and potential earning power.
Overall, making a positive difference through the Educational Foundation Board and initiatives like the VECAT asphalt program and Virginia Infrastructure Academy showcases a commitment to improving lives, supporting families, and building a strong workforce. It bridges the gap between education and the workforce, which is instrumental in preparing students for successful careers and contributing to the growth of Virginia's economy.
