Facilities Management is required to develop, implement and enforce a program to reduce the discharge of pollutants associated with construction activity into their municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4). Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) and Stormwater Management (SWM) Programs are integral components of all design, construction maintenance, and management of college facilities.

GCC, in conjunction with Virginia Community College System, has implemented rules and regulations in its ESC and SWM programs, which are enforced during the planning, permitting and construction phase by GCC staff and third party inspectors. Staff is responsible for conducting regular inspections of the site during construction. Public concern and input associated with runoff from construction activity is received by email at gfenwick@germanna.edu or by calling the Facilities Department at (540) 423-9185.
