Even though many colleges and universities were faced with teaching online because of the pandemic in 2020, Germanna was already thinking ahead about how to not only provide quality online courses but how to provide accelerated online degrees.
College Everywhere is a program that allows a student to get a General Studies, General Studies Pre-BSN, Business Administration, Cybersecurity, Liberal Arts, or Business Management degree, totally online within one year. Five and seven-week courses provide a clear pathway to a degree.
We understand that education is an investment and quality matters. Therefore, all our online courses through College Everywhere are Quality Matters (QM) certified. Quality Matters is the industry standard in online learning. Germanna offers the most QM-certified courses among Virginia’s community colleges and is in the top three community colleges internationally. That means that students are getting a top-notch online education.
You may think that these fast-paced classes would be difficult, however, this program is second to none in student success. These courses are instructor-led and while they move quickly, they provide the student with the flexibility to complete course work at their own pace, but not on their own. Each College Everywhere course includes a dedicated student coach to support them along the way. These coaches provide support to each student, in addition to the instructor of the course.
As a faculty member teaching one of these courses, it is interesting to see how focused and dedicated most of the students are that take these courses. We have found that College Everywhere students have a 38% increase in graduation, compared to our traditional students and 17% increase in passing grades.

We are continuing to work with our four-year universities to provide a seamless transfer pathway for students to continue their education online or on campus. The first partnership or affiliation agreement was executed on Dec 8, 2021, between Germanna and the University of Virginia. This agreement provides students in the College Everywhere program with advising early in their educational journey and opportunities for specific scholarships dedicated to College Everywhere students. Southern New Hampshire University and Germanna recently signed an agreement. Agreements with the University of Mary Washington, Old Dominion, George Mason, University of Maryland-Global Campus.
