This summer, Germanna held its annual Smart Start summer program to provide students with additional learning and onboarding support, preparing them for success at Germanna. Smart Start is a series of summer bridge programs tailored to the needs of different student populations, including dual enrollment students, students with barriers, and first-generation college students. Through the specific programming, students were able to take a free college class, connect with campus resources, and make a plan to complete a Germanna degree.

Smart Start: First-Gen participants completing an icebreaker activity

On July 17, Smart Start: First-Gen began, giving students who are the first in their families to attend college an opportunity to take a free college course, get a free laptop, and experience fun and engaging educational activities.

We are proud to continue uplifting our local students and giving them access to resources that they might not have on their own.
