Germanna Community College Announces Spring Community Event Lineup
Fredericksburg, VA – Germanna Community College is excited to invite students of all ages to two dynamic spring events designed to inspire future innovators and support military-connected families. These free, hands-on experiences offer valuable opportunities to explore STEM fields and discover careers in local workforce and infrastructure industries—reinforcing Germanna’s mission to educate and empower individuals at every stage of life.
- Workforce Open House & Job Fair for Military-Connected Students – Thursday, March 20, 2025, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Fredericksburg Center for Advanced Technology (FredCAT)
- STEAM-H Day for K-12 Students – Saturday, April 5, 2025, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Fredericksburg Area Campus

These events reflect our commitment to empowering our entire community with opportunities to learn, connect, and build brighter futures.”
Helping Military-Connected Students Build Their Futures
On March 20, Germanna will welcome military-connected students, veterans, and their families to the Workforce Open House & Job Fair at the Fredericksburg Center for Advanced Technology, the College’s hub for workforce training and career development. This free, family-friendly event offers attendees the chance to:
- Meet expert instructors and explore high-demand workforce programs.
- Speak with career advisors about financial aid, certifications, and career pathways.
- Connect with local employers looking to hire skilled professionals.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators
On April 5, Germanna will host its annual STEAM-H Day, a hands-on learning event designed for K-12 students and their families. Held at the Fredericksburg Area Campus, this event will immerse young learners in engaging activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, and Health (STEAM-H).
Past events have welcomed over 700 students and families, and this year’s program will include interactive experiences such as:
- Slime Creation – Dive into the chemistry of polymers.
- Meet Our Microbes – Discover the unseen world of bacteria.
- Hacking Networks – Explore the basics of cybersecurity.
- Binary Beads – Decode secret messages using binary code.
- Campus Tours – Experience Germanna’s cutting-edge learning spaces.
In addition to hands-on learning, Germanna will be collecting canned and boxed food items and personal hygiene products to support the Bear Necessities Food Pantry, which provides essential resources to students and families in need.
