Spotsylvania County
July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2026

I have been a resident of Spotsylvania County for 20 years. I am a mother of six and currently reside in the Livingston district.

I have studied science and international business at various state colleges and at a community college. My studies led to a certification in Medical Transcription, which allowed me to open my own transcription business.

Once I moved to Virginia, I became a volunteer to the local school system and other community service organizations. Volunteering allowed me to become aware of the needs in our community. I found myself helping families navigate the school system to advocate for their children’s needs. Being bilingual, my volunteer activities often included the Hispanic community.

During this time, I became familiar with the social, economic, and educational diversity among the people in Spotsylvania County. I researched and educated myself about educational programs that where available to the students in our community and became a facilitator and translator for students that had an interest in these programs. This included the STEM programs, tutoring programs, Vocational School programs and the Gladys P. Todd Academy.

My interest is not just limited to my local community; I speak various languages and have traveled to many places around the world. I am comfortable in multiple cultures and enjoy the diversity of those cultures. I come from a family that believed in personally engaging in humanitarian aid around the world and have participated in disaster relief efforts in South and Central America as well as some of the Greater Antilles. I believe my real-world experience will be a contribution to this board.

Make a difference in the lives of students.
