Great Expectations is a Virginia Community College statewide program that was founded in 2008. The mission of the program is to help Virginia’s current and former foster youth gain access to a community college education and transition successfully to living independently.
Program Eligibility
- Current youth in foster care over the age of 14
- Former foster care youth who left foster care at the age of 13 or older due to :
- reunification
- adoption
- informal kinship care
- aging out of care
- Special needs adoptions from foster care at any age (the child could be adopted at any time, age requirements do not apply).
